Just about the worst playdate I've ever been involved in. We should have called an end to it earlier.

Alright, not the worst, I've called an end to worse playdates.

Emily was over at the house of her friend, A. A had already been in a bad mood, so her nanny wanted to start with food and then play. Emily said that she wasn't hungry, but when she saw the choices, she wanted to eat. A ate as quick as she could and started to nag Emily to eat faster.
Then both girls put on costumes and A fussed at Emily that Emily's costume wasn't on right (belt wasn't tied). Emily said that it looked right to her (Emily thought it was better with the belt untied). fuss, fuss, fuss.
Let's play outside. Remove costume (Emily fussed at me, because she couldn't do it herself and wanted to). Some successful playing in the treehouse and "locking" me in the shed.

Then playing with two plastic bats. A was dancing with them. I thought that it looked like rhythmic gymnastics. So both girls wanted to compete in the Olympics. Could not work out the logical thing, each girl gets a bat. So we set them to take turns (individual events) with both and then the team USA event. Emily walked away after the individual events and could not be convinced to be part of the team event. Fuss, fuss, fuss, it's not fair. Fuss, fuss, fuss.

Climbing on the jungle gym. A did a trick and wanted Emily to do the same trick. Emily could not be convinced. Fuss, fuss, fuss. Emily climbed on my shoulders. fuss fuss fuss. A wanted help to do Emily's trick. Emily said that she didn't insist that A do her trick. A thought it would be fair, after she did Emily's trick Emily should do her trick. A did Emily's trick twice, but Emily said that since she didn't insist that A do her trick, it wasn't important in whether Emily had to do A's trick. fuss, fuss, fuss, fair, fair, fair

Finally, we started to look at caterpillars. And distracted them both.

A finally decided to play on the computer. I made them take turns and they did OK (better than with the jungle gym), still some fussing.

Emily was thinking about getting on the computer and playing that game all the way while we bought treats for her babysitter and went to her babysitter. I had to write a note for T about letting her play the game.

Can't believe that they are both 5 and a half.
