What did we do on our vacation?

First, we flew into KCI. It was a good flight; Emily looked out of the window and gave us a running commentary on the cloud shapes. We found the proper place for the rental car. We rented a minivan, just because we saw an ad for it and liked the ad. We bought the gas in it for ~$3.50/gallon or so.
I drove to Lawrence, KS with T in the backseat checking out all the features. (It was a Stow-n-Go Town and Country).

We had the most awesome dinner that Pooch made. Yum. Definitely want him to come to DC now (we did before also). When Pooch brought out the meat, he announced it as dead pig. Emily kept asking for more pig after that.
We slept over at
starstraf and Pooch's place. When we woke up, we had eggs for breakfast and danish. Emily decided that she was going to eat apple with sugar sprinkled on top.

Took Teddy for a walk to the local playground. Discussed Disneyworld (and Kennedy Space Center) with
starstraf and learned more about Rowan and Willow (2 of 3 of her goddaughters; I forgot the third name).
Went to the University of Kansas 136th annual Commencement Doctoral Hooding Ceremony. Emily took pictures of everything. I wore my gown and hood in solidarity. I need to figure out how to clean my gown and hood (I guess hand-washing might work); it says no machine washing and no dry cleaning. Pooch was very happy to graduate and we were very happy for him.
There was a party at
starstraf's and Pooch's house and we were glad to help celebrate. T was allowed to drink (alcoholic drinks) since I was planning to drive. We spent the night at a hotel, since Emily would be more willing to go to sleep if she didn't think that there was a party going on downstairs (and the hotel was closer to our next stop anyway). I met some of their friends, Chris the Organic Chemist (or bandana Chris) and Jeremy and Sarah and more. A woman living in New York and doing social work. A woman knitting a sock (using the knitting-in-the-round technique). Should have taken notes that night before I went to sleep.
