Vent about my mother

She's a flake

She seems to be surprised that I had to pay to rent a space in the local Recreation Center. Unless I am a "community organization", I have to pay, same as everyone else. She needs to read more Heinlein (TANSTAFL).
She attacks the bearer of bad news. Her response to the fact that I had to rent the Center was "Are you on drugs?". In fact, she often asks me that question. I have never used illegal drugs and have very rarely used alcohol.
She is panicked about the weather and traffic.
She always comments about my sniffles.
She always comments about my weight.

I'm convinced all our mothers are flakes. Unfortunately, I suspect our children will be saying the same about in about 20 years.

But I am really, really going to avoid asking my child if they are on drugs in a casual, I-don't-believe-you kind of way. If I ever have to ask that question, it will be a serious long-drawn-out kind of interrogation.
