I pointed this event out to science fiction and culture aficionado extraordinaire julipmd, who's on both Strathmore's and BSO's mailing lists, and she was adamantly and ferociously vehement that this event constitutes neither high culture nor science fiction -- but rather, a regular, repeated attempt by Strathmore to draw an audience and bring in money. Which led me to recall we'd actually discussed this event when it had been offered previously, with similar results.
Then, I pointed out that the primary attraction seemed to me to be not to go to listen to live orchestral selections from several arguably classic sci-fi movies, nor to hear narration by George Takei, aka Hikaru Sulu, aka Kaito Nakamura, etc.; but rather to see the associated "spectacular laser light show." Upon which she became rather somewhat less adamant in her disdain. :)
Regardless... ;)
I myself might be up for joining some friends for said event. While my schedule for January is still somewhat uncertain, an outing that evening certainly may be possible.
