I am beginning to feel the cumulative impact of having more time. I get to goof off (always a priority) and get things done in the time I have available.

I couldn't imagine home-schooling. I'd *ALWAYS* be behind the gun.

I got some weeding done in my down-time today.
petmoosie: (Science)
Pulled some vines. Watered some grass seed (in "lawn"). Chopped some wood.

We (Emily and I) have been getting to school in plenty of time this week. Probably is due to setting the alarm earlier.

Homework went like gangbusters yesterday. She's getting it and getting how to do it efficiently.

Looks like two (2) Introductory Spanish classes this year. Great!!!! Emily is signed up for one of them.

I really, really need to clean my desk. I'd love to put it off (and I can to a certain extent), but it is really the elephant in my todo list.

Shhhh!

How politely can I kick [livejournal.com profile] mrmoosie and Emily out of the house? I need some quiet. They are now watching "The Wrong Trousers" by Nick Park.

I need to find the authorization to get my fingerprints taken.

The light in [livejournal.com profile] mrmoosie 's office burnt out Saturday, and it is no fun trying to file things in the dark.

I have a goal of finishing many of my todo items today. I also have a goal of clearing a layer or two on my "desk".

Would it be too cruel to leave the house and leave [livejournal.com profile] mrmoosie (who is very tired) to Emily's mercy?

[livejournal.com profile] mrmoosie went to work early today, and for some reason, Emily and I woke up before he left. We've watched a awful lot of TV today.

I wish he were home already.

Our oven/range is still being a problem. Or is being a problem again, depending on how you want to look at it.

[livejournal.com profile] mrmoosie cut out a huge bit of drywall. He will be calling the plumber in the morning. Emily and I will be home when he comes.

We need to get to sleep tonight. The goal should be to stay on the same schedule.

I need to be sure that I am prepared for tomorrow's tutoring.

I can't wait for school to start. I've got plenty of plans while Emily is busy.

Not all it's cracked up to be!!! There goes more of our money.

My bin is close to full. It takes an amazing amount of stuff to get it anywhere near full. And it will crush itself down to less fairly soon. But for this bright shining moment, it's nearly full. Of course, it will take months, years to decay even with the worms in there. The chunks are just too big, of course, particularly with some of the larger seeds (pits) from the cherries, peaches, and mango. But at least, it's a start.

We have lived in this house 8 years now. I still don't know all the different plants that we have. We still haven't unpacked most of the puzzles and games from our move here.

Although, nothing will make you feel completely non-greasy after putting on sunscreen.

We have new, functional phones in our house. I am still getting used to the small blinking light for messages.

I need to make the chamomile tea for tonight. We are trying to make it a habit and make going to bed more of a short routine. Hmmm.
petmoosie: (shoes)
We are currently having two pinhole leaks in our pipes repaired. $$$$ bleh.

It's so hard, when she is sleeping peacefully.

Emily woke up at 2:40, thinking that she was good to go all day. Needless to say, she was back asleep by 4 at the latest. Whether I am functional today is yet to be determined.

H1N1 will only be updated at the CDC on Fridays. Translation, we're done, aren't you?

i spent a while gazing at my own naval (or psyche) today with the help of my sister.

I got a form from my employer stating that my reported wages in 2007 were wrong. After reading carefully, it was only the wages reported to the IRS, not those on my W2 that were wrong. So I paid correctly, just the IRS may flag my return for review. If they do review it, I send in the letter from my employer with my signature on it. Since I am currently avoiding finishing this years taxes, I have most of the rules in my active memory that apply in this situation.

T emailed me a statement from his benefits manager that allows us to claim money saved last year on this year's dependent care expenses. This is a miracle due to our problem with not finding our previous babysitter. It has to be a change in the law, right? I wonder if it went in with the stimulus bill. It makes some sense, if you assume that Q4 of 2008 was the worst for jobs, but that isn't so.

Must get directions to Howard University (and figure out what room I'll be going to).
Rearrange my notes for the interesting order in the accelerated class.
Either dig out our driveway or buy icemelt and melt out our driveway (driveway is nearly completely ice).
File lots of paperwork.
Dump shredding on top of my compost to keep the squirrels from making a mess in there. The mess is SO much more obvious spread out over a layer of clean ice on top of snow.
Make sure that my daughter eats healthy food. Ha, ha, ha. I crack myself up.
Send my sister a book on composting with worms. That's fun.

Boy, I am glad this week is ending.

I think I need to make a master copy of the homework I am giving my tutoring student, since I have to turn in the tutoring logs every week. In addition, I found the spaces for homework too small on the tutoring logs. Maybe I will design my own form and give it to the central office to be available for download. I have to poke around on the downloads site anyway to see if there is something that my boss promised to email me.

My brother is a tiny bit peeved at me that I let the kids play Legos indoors instead of insisting that they play outdoors, since yesterday was the first warmish day in a while.

My car is back in order, except for a few flaws that the dealer will have to fix.

Last night was Math Mania at Emily's school. The teachers showed us all sorts of teaching games to use with our children (not part of the homework). They also reminded us that 100 days of school is coming up and the children will want to have a collection of 100 things (obviously small things) to bring it.

Must sleep

My lovely car had its radiator fluid freeze. Now, I will be afraid to drive on any day below freezing.

My Internet connection is running a bit slow these last two days.

Our tree is out. The needles are everywhere. Vacuuming lies in my future for today and probably other days. Emily doesn't like the sound of the vacuum, so I will try to get it done when she is not here.  ETA: most vacuuming is completely done.

Emily was late to school today due to looking for her gloves. We have probably too many pairs of gloves for her, and the pairs aren't attached to each other, so matching up a pair can take a while. I should attach them in some way.

I am printing out my notes for MCAT Biology. We had to buy a new toner cartridge. It's not a big, big surprise since I print out a lot. ETA: all done

Since our work on the bathroom is done or nearly so, I plan to clean the floor in the master bedroom. Sweep or vacuum, I haven't decided.

I have been slacking a bit on my Spanish resolution for the year. I should have time for it today. ETA: Did at least an hour of Spanish.
petmoosie: (braids)
My iPod was playing music to itself when I took it out of my purse this afternoon.

I tried to print out the pages for MCAT Biology. The toner gave out completely on page 60 (well, after printing the odd pages of 61-70, but not the even ones, I am trying to save paper).

I've been emailing way too much and not getting on the treadmill enough. I found out that one person that I have to deal with is a personal trainer (like in the gym). I should be afraid to show my paunch in front of her, but really I never notice unless I look at myself in the mirror.

But my obligations for the PTA are done for this week. I will try NOT to think or email about it until Monday at least. There are PLENTY of other things that I should be doing for my household or myself.

petmoosie: (braids)
I have an MCAT class getting ready to start up (actually a tutorial with a student with an auditory processing disorder, so I will need to write more). So I have to reprint my notes (this time with page numbers). Tonight is professional development (I have no idea what we are going to DO, all I know is that we don't have to BRING anything).

All sorts of financial documents for the year have come in. I need to enter them in my "system" and file them appropriately.

I have the tax software.

Emily is staying for the after-school program today (so I can do the professional development without waiting for T to come home). Notes have been passed and the check given.
