4. THIS WILL CREATE A NEVER-ENDING CYCLE OF SQUEE. WHOO!
I was asked about
Interests:
Biochemistry: I have really earned my MBD (Make-Believe Doctor) degree. I love the way you can figure out what illness someone has and what treatments the doctor will prescribe from the biochemistry of what is wrong. But I would never actually be a doctor.
Swimming: I have swum since I was very little. I would ask to go to "Martin Luther King Junior Pool" at my aunt's house at around 2.5. It was an impressive phrase from someone so small. At 7, I was a strong swimmer and pulled my aunt and uncle on a raft back into shore when the lifeguard said that they had gone out too far. I am not fast, and I am pretty mediocre at the crawl, but the breaststroke and the back breaststroke are my strokes.
Russia: My interest in Russia began as a support of T's Poly Sci degree. But it kept going and going. I took Pr. Weil's "Introduction to the Soviet Union" as did 30% of NU undergrads. I took an mid-level history class with T. I took the language in grad school (1 year). Then T got tutored. Then we went to Moscow in 1995. Then I took a year of Russian tutoring with T. Then another year of Russian with the same teacher. It got too complicated to keep taking it in 1999.
ICONS:
PlayMobile Arrest: Emily was playing with the castle that her cousins got. She arranged all the people to arrest one bad guy and we got a picture of it. I use it for Medieval stuff and for stuff where I am complaining about someone.
Bead Shuttle: Emily has melty beads, where you arrange them into a picture and iron them (with a protective piece of paper) to make a "permanent" picture. T arranged them into the shape of the space shuttle with a smiley face at the front. I use it for space stuff or stuff where I am happy.
Acorn with Worm: Emily collected a bunch of acorns and brought them inside the house. I put them in a box lid and forgot about them. Three days later, the fat worms inside had crawled out to have their pictures taken. No wonder we never get oak seedlings. I use the picture for science stuff (usually biological).
