Ice skating

Ice skating was fun. I am between a size 7 and a size 7 wide. So on the 7 wide, I have to lace really, really tightly. And I still get a little bit more tired, because I have to exaggerate my movements to make the skate respond (so today I am feeling it in all my leg muscles). Emily has forgotten much (but not all) of what she learned two years ago and was clinging to the wall and using her toe pick to make her go. Emily has at least three friends with the first initial J, but I will keep using it to protect their anonymity.

Any, the particular J who is five years old and in Emily's class at school, is in the second level of ice skating lessons. So she was whizzing around the ice. Her dad was giving Emily advice and reminders. We are *definitely* going to make ice skating a priority for Emily to try and get back to her previous level. 

Frustrated at work

The last time I worked for my employer, the Princeton Review, was Oct. 30th. I just asked for classes starting into March. I got none of them. So I am unlikely to be working until the beginning of April (unless something pulls through on the MCAT side, and I haven't worked on the MCAT side since July 30th). Sigh.

So, aside from an all-hands meeting in January, I've got nothing cooking over there. I should use this time to work on my Spanish hard. It's fairly even with my Russian right now, maybe a fraction better.

Cute story

Emily brought in a star (plastic in the shape of a star) for the mystery bag item (must start with an /s/ sound). She gave a clue that we are made of them. One of her classmates said, "no, we aren't made of stars". She stuck to her guns and described a "big sonic boom" (that's supposed to be a super-nova) and all the pieces go to make up living things (that's supposed to be all the planets). Her teacher sighed and said "They grow up so fast."
