Hospital on Christmas Eve
Dec. 24th, 2007 02:40 pmMy father is going to the ER today. His stomach hurts and it's more than he can handle.
He and mom ate out last night, so it could be food poisoning or richer food than he is used to.
I will update after 7pm, whether or not there is any information.
Edited to Add: They are most likely going to admit him. My mom is there and going to call when he is admitted so that she can have a ride home. Since we live 6 minutes from the hospital, she is going to call us.
Edited again to Add: Appendicitis has been ruled out using a CAT scan. Mom is home. It's the crack of dawn here.
Edited again, again to Add: Diagnosis has been made. It's pancreatitis with the complication of a gallstone. Incredibly painful. Treatment is to keep the patient on IV for days and days. No food. If the gallstone is still around once the pancreatitis has subsided, then surgery for the gallstone. Once the crisis is over, modify the diet to exclude fatty foods. My mom is already on that diet, since she had pancreatitis in the summer of 2006.
