Multiple days below freezing or close to it. Winter has decided to show up, but not wintry precipitation (yet).

Travel. The whole family enjoyed taking a weekend away.

School. A large project suffered from neglect while we were away, and also while we were here. Basically, the child wants to do it all in school and put it off until the last minute. It is not a good situation. Also, Valentine's Day is the day before the project is due. Not wonderful timing. I am pretty much solely responsible for the Valentine's Day cards at this point.

Car. My car is not a happy camper, and must visit the experts. However, I never have large tracts of time where I don't need it.

Work. Well, this is what is making sure that my car doesn't have vast amounts of idle time. Plus volunteering.

Volunteering. Still a large amount to do. Keeping me busy and occupied.

Spanish. Only getting a tiny amount of Rosetta Stone done per week.

Garden. Thanks to the multiple days below freezing, I am not thinking about it at all.

I am procrastinating my procrastinating things.

I have to get a lecture in order by 7pm.
I have to return or renew Emily's library books today. Probably renew on computer.
I have to write and translate (or get someone to translate) a Membership for the PTA poster by tomorrow.
I have to submit my timesheet, including this lecture tonight, by midnight.

You may not be surprising that I am knitting, doing laundry, and checking Facebook, LiveJournal and other social media. Plus wandering around looking for papers and other things.

Updated: I got 3 out of 4 done by 10:10pm
petmoosie: (braids)
Many of which I had put off too long.

I am doing laundry. Starting with adult dark clothes and I am hoping to get as far as sheets and towels. (ETA: some towels done, lots of adult dark clothes)

I'm changing the Brita filter. (ETA: done)

I am listening to a large number of news reports in Spanish. I am mostly listening to those from the recent days (about Egipto).

I am sending out letters from the PTA that I should have done before the first of February. (ETA: done, thank goodness)

I am planning to run on my treadmill. Or, at least walk.

I am going to see if there is still space to sign Emily up for the Girl Scout camp that she would like to do.

We got some financial statements yesterday. If I wish to use the information on them, I have to enter it into my system before filing them. I have a ton of papers on my desk, so I need to clear and file as much as I can.

I have more than a slight difficulty getting things done with all the noise (conversation) in our house.

My tutoring student will be taking his test on Dec. 30th. I will have NO students carrying over from 2009 to 2010. This makes me happier than you would think since it is just a date on the calender.

I am getting laundry done and put away. I am reading magazines and checking on the front that I have finished them. I am clearing up mental and physical backlogs of various types. I am washing dishes.

My compost pile is one-half full and decaying well. :)

I really am. Hooray!!!

At this rate, I may be able to do all Wednesday's scheduled things on Friday.

I found a blog that I am enjoying called "Facts Are Strictly Optional".

I get distracted easily. Good thing I'm not managing a nuclear reactor.

I am also listening to news in another language. When will I learn that it just confuses me (more)?
petmoosie: (Science)
There are still some leaves to fall. The bulbs are all in the ground.

The compost is full of the innards of pumpkins.

The sheer number of events on Wednesday is excessive.

I'm awake

I did some gardening. And enjoyed it.

[ profile] mrmoosie is playing Mad Libs with our daughter.

I think that the first quarter of the school is almost over. So we'll be getting grades soon. They will be weird, since the highest grade is supposed to be reserved for extraordinary work. I'm not sure how a first grader does extraordinary work on handwriting, I guess calligraphy. "Wow, that sentence sounded better in my head."

Birthday party must be settled today. !!!!!!!!!!!!

I used my lightbox for 20 minutes this morning. OK, maybe I lost track of time and it was an hour. I am totally revved up. I have a ton of things to do for my PTA committee and some of the information I need is in Yahoo! mail. Mail is acting slow, plus I have a ton of messages that I *could* respond to (mostly having to do with that same committee).

My brain keeps firing up things for me to do. I have a category in my "things" (a todo list) called public health. It seems to include advising people to get the flu vaccine, figure out whether someone should get the nasal vaccine or the shot, and telling people that flu parties are one of the dumbest ideas out there. It also includes donating blood, but that requires sitting still.

Unfortunately for me, I can't listen to podcasts (especially not Spanish) very well in this hyper state. Or study.
petmoosie: (braids)
I really, really need to clean my desk. I'd love to put it off (and I can to a certain extent), but it is really the elephant in my todo list.
petmoosie: (bad guy)
And I still have gardening I *want* to do today. I guess I'd better plan on doing other stuff today. Should add "good weather" tag to Things to help organize my todos.

I'm going to watch Obama on C-Span today. That'll be fun, I guess.

How politely can I kick [ profile] mrmoosie and Emily out of the house? I need some quiet. They are now watching "The Wrong Trousers" by Nick Park.

I need to find the authorization to get my fingerprints taken.

The light in [ profile] mrmoosie 's office burnt out Saturday, and it is no fun trying to file things in the dark.

I have a goal of finishing many of my todo items today. I also have a goal of clearing a layer or two on my "desk".

petmoosie: (Default)
Reading & preparing Cell Biology and questions for tutoring tomorrow. Putting blank paper into my bag, so I have it tomorrow. Printing another copy of a paper I need.

Double-checking my to-do list. I'm not at the stage where I trust it yet.
petmoosie: (Emily)
Much of the math is done. The microwave is pretty clean.

Emily has done at least 4 activities for her summer homework.

I have decided that we should make a model of the totem pole in modeling clay before trying to achieve anything (except stripping down) with the actual wood.

I can't cross anything off of my todo list yet.

Plus I may have to add more to the old todo list.

More grass

And a slightly shorter way to Cantler's. Emily fed the ducks with crab gills she saved from dinner.

The totem pole has been left in a dangerous--ish state. One heavy limb is one-half sawed-through. I will have to finish that very, very soon. [ profile] starstraf 's sweetie needs his own LJ id suggested a way to cut it quickly.

To Dos

I only have 7 weeks until Spanish class starts up again. I am supposed to do some of the grammar exercises, so that I can use the grammar properly. That seems to be one of my limiting factors these days. 3 of those weeks are after Emily goes to school, so probably I will have to wait for then.

Emily has done 10 of the 30 assignments for school. I need to either clear out the kindergarten folder or start a new one for 1rst grade, since I already have papers from the school (for 1rst grade). I think I have some PTA stuff in the papers, that I need to return to the president (just throw over my fence :-) ).
petmoosie: (Me)
[ profile] mrmoosie is off to the store with a list. I gave him a sneak peek at the school calender and encouraged him to copy important parts into his iPhone.

I buried the deer feces, that I had been walking over (never on) for days while doing my garden work. I seeded all the bare soil areas with Fall Grass seed, that Emily helped us get at the hardware store. Our neighbor recommended that mixture of grass seed. (Although she dug up all her moss, and I lazily just seeded on top of the moss). I thought that moss was an indicator species, but I can't find a reference to it. The Wikipedia entry says that mosses can be encouraged in acid soil and discouraged in alkaline soil, which is close to the bit that I heard about them being an indicator for acid soil. I already know that the site has lots of rainfall, little light and poor water runoff.

I filled three pots with potting soil and put seeds into two of them. That finished off the potting soil for good. And the cantaloupe seeds are all gone now, also.

It rained really hard last night. So I am not going to worry about watering for a while.

Emily is reading. She read the instructions from her vitamin bottle.

I should be happy. I'm going around in circles so much I'm making myself miserable. I need to settle down and just check some stuff off my todo list. It's not impossible to calm down and use my time productively.

Good day

The sun is finally out.
Emily doesn't need glasses. The test picked up some astigmatism, which will eventually need to be corrected, but it shouldn't be a problem now. It's mild, like T's, and astigmatism doesn't change over your lifespan (unlike near- and far-sightedness).  I brought Emily to school just in time to go to the lunchroom and be the lunch lady (1 of 3). Oh, the kids were full of beans!!! Just very bouncy, interfering with their neighbor, etc.

Last night's Spanish class was awful. I wasn't prepared and wasn't awake enough to follow the teacher. The teacher wasn't too upset with me, though. She was very glad to get some good essays from the rest of the class. I will have to get my essay emailed to her soon.
